Hi, I'm Charlie

Charlie in the Tree LLC is an exclusive photography studio based in Dallas, TX specializing in wedding, portrait, and event photography. Using a natural blend of documentary photojournalism with modern and innovative styling, my mission is to offer clients the best photography available, create lasting memories for my clients that will be cherished for generations, and leave a positive and lasting impression with people I interact with.

I'm Charles Nguyen, first generation Vietnamese-American born and raised in the Dallas area. My love for photography started as a teen back in the film days. My first assignment ever was to create a slideshow (a real slideshow, with actual slides!) for my 8th grade class as an end of the year highlight reel. The only problem was that they asked me to do it the last month of school. Amazing what shooting candids and syncing them to Boyz II Men's "Yesterday" can portray. Later in high school I helped my father as a 2nd photographer at weddings he worked. During college, I didn't have time to pursue shooting anymore and was hesitant to convert to the digital age. But with help from great photography friends and the support of my loving family, I have found my passion once again.

I've had the pleasure to capture over 200 weddings including traditional American, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Laos, Cambodian, Indian, Mexican, Ethiopian, Kenyan, and same-sex weddings. It's an amazing experience to get to witness other cultures and capturing the variety of martial rituals and ceremonies that tell the story of the couple's heritage and legacy. My pre-planning and style of capturing your wedding will allow you to enjoy your special day without too much pulling you away from family, friends, and festivities. I love freezing the fun, hectic, emotional behind the scenes moments that will help relive the day forever. From natural light to studio lighting, I can spotlight your big day the way you want it.
